Never been to Camp Lakota? Have a busy summer schedule? Want to spend a day in the outdoors? Need a Den or Pack activity for the summer? Then One Day in the Woods is for you!
One Day in the Woods is just that - spending a day in the outdoors getting a taste of what Camp Lakota has to offer. Shooting sports, crafts, Scout skills, games, nature hikes, and more are all available during this program.
The One Day in the Woods is a one-day event showcasing all that is great about Camp Lakota. Practice your skills, such as marksmanship at the archery and BB ranges, the obstacle course, make a craft, play games, and experience the best one-day event in the Midwest!
One Day in the Woods is perfect for anyone who:
- Has never been to Lakota and wants to see the camp.
- might not be able to fit an entire week or weekend into their summer schedule.
- Wants to spend a day outdoors.
- Wants to come to Lakota for Scouting fun!
- Tiger Cubs that want to learn more about the scouting program!
You could even attend as a Den or Pack for a fun-filled one, two, or three-day Summer event! Lunch will be provided. This program is available to all Cub Scouts and Webelos Scouts.
Transportation
You are expected to provide your own transportation to One Day in the Woods. We encourage all Packs to carpool. Given the current construction at Camp Lakota, parking availability is limited.
We also ask that Packs do their best to arrive at Camp on-time. This will help expeditethe check-in process and allow the staff to begin the day’s activities promptly as scheduled.
If your pack would like to take the Metra train to One Day in the Woods, we will be offering a transport shuttle from the Harvard train station to Camp Lakota and back for a fee. If you or your Pack would like to make this arrangement, please sign up to do so when you register online.
Program
The One Day in the Woods program is designed to provide Scouts with an exciting outdoor program. Each day will provide a different set of activities. Scouts will rotate through multiple program areas. Some schedules will differ depending on weather and special activities. The Scouts will work as dens at each program area.
Program opportunities may include: Archery, BB Guns, Sports, Games, Swimming (subject to availability), Handicrafts, Scout Skills, Nature Activities, and Songs & Skits
Adventures for Tigers!
This program is targeted to our new Tiger Cubs to spend time with other Tiger Cubs and complete age-appropriate actives with each other.
T-Shirts
You may pre-order your One Day in the Woods T-shirt at the discounted price. Please include the size and payment on the registration form. These will be ready for you when you arrive at camp. A limited supply of these shirts may be available for purchase at camp. Unless you pre-order, we cannot guarantee availability.
